Agua Prieta-Douglas/Sierra Vista, Arizona

This perhaps surprisingly upscale community is located 35 miles west of the Arizona-New Mexico border.

The Mexico communities of Agua Prieta and Cananea (125,000) double the populations of Douglas, Bisbee and Sierra Vista, Arizona, combined.

A study conducted by the University of Arizona indicated 81.6 percent of Mexican residents entering the United States through the Douglas port did so for the purpose of shopping—the highest proportion of all ports of entry in the State of Arizona.

The Agua Prieta/Cananea area also boasts a literacy rate of over 97%.  Mining, manufacturing and agriculture are the driving forces behind a vibrant regional economy.
