68% of all Tijuana residents travel by automobile to San Diego to shop.

Tijuana is the largest foreign market located on any US Border, and is one of the fastest growing communities in Mexico, with a current population of well over 2,000,000.

The totally new Port of Entry was recently completed, at a cost of nearly one billion dollars.  The changes allow for more cars and pedestrians to pass throught customs quicker than ever before. The previous northbound configuration of 24 inspection booths has been demolished.  There are now 68 new booths, processing northbound entries quickly, safely and securely.

Shopping in San Diego is considered a requirement by most residents of Tijuana and waiting in line at the border for 30 minutes to 2 hours + is no deterrent.

Many stores in San Diego accept the Mexican peso and all malls within 25 miles of the border have currency exchange houses located within the mall.

Tijuana is community of more than 50% White Collar workers, and has become one of the dominant manufacturing centers of the North American continent.  The city maintains facilities of numerous multinational conglomerate corporations. The 2000's saw Tijuana become the medical device manufacturing capital of North America.

Tijuana is also a growing cultural center, with a booming Arts and Food scene.

Tijuana is the 42nd largest city in the Americas and is the westernmost city in Mexico.  According to the 2010 census, the Tijuana metropolitan area was the fifth-largest in Mexico. 

The international metropolitan region was estimated to be approximately 5,600,000 in 2018, making it the third largest metropolitan area in the California’s and 19th largest metropolitan area in the Americas.
